Wollongong Diocese Pastoral Plan

Third Plenary Session Cancelled! Because the Second one was so sucessful.  Well if I was synical I might have dismissed this as a cost cutting measure - On the optimistic side perhaps it will have the same kind of lasting success that the Renew Programme had!  There they go again mistaking the Church for a corporate business - plans, steering committees - statistics - where did the religion go?

I suppose by implicating the laity in the plan, it will be even harder to point the finger when the whole thing fails, as it will.  The question is how can we get them to do something really novel like just teaching the Catholic faith for a change - You know the hard stuff; Fasting, Penance, Mortal Sins, Purgatory, Contraception, Abortion, Hell to name but a few - remember those?

If you want teaching about those things I suggest you connect with the FSSP

Not until they are domeciled in the Wollongong Diocese.

Now that's a thought to consider Sybil! Unfortunately it may arouse considerable indignation despite the fact the Wollongong Diocese already relies on "order" priests so heavily. Mind you, it would require men who "look good on wood" because they would be destined to suffer and of course it would take an order from none less than the Pope for the doors to open to them. A miracle is perhaps required, lets start praying!!

Yes, Daughter of Eve - prayer is needed - but I think, ever new a fresh approaches should be made to the diocese - otherwise they'll forget we exist - too convenient!

Regarding Homo iniquus' comment re going to the FSSP for doctrinal teaching - I think that would be too easy (not to mention comfortable)and not in the spirit of the "New Evangelisation" called for by the Church.

We should be out there demanding the fullnes of the Catholic Faith be taught in every Church of the diocese!

Oh but they think it is! At least that teaching which is convenient to hear.

The most common comment I've heard lately is that the church is heading in the wrong direction - going backwards, too caught up in the "rules" with Latin being a "dead language". I agree with you, we must stand up and be counted, whilst being prepared to be crucified for our efforts!

Maybe Bp Pat could go for a retreat (sorry, I meant a "renewal workshop") at Le Barroux?
